WSM-AM (Nashville, TN)

WSM, also known as The Legend, is a powerful AM radio station with a 50,000-watt clear channel, based in Nashville, Tennessee. Broadcasting at 650 kHz, it features a country music format that includes both classic country and Americana, with the latter branded as "Route 650." WSM is famously recognized as the home of The Grand Ole Opry, the longest-running radio show in the world. Its clear channel signal allows it to reach a large portion of North America and surrounding countries, particularly during the night. Among the few clear-channel stations in North America still mainly playing music, it stands out alongside CFZM in Toronto. Although it had live local programming during overnight hours until February 2020, that position was discontinued. Often referred to as "The Air Castle of the South," WSM shares its callsign with WSM-FM in Nashville and was previously used by television Channel 4, which is now known as WSMV.
