ST. CROIX — Seaborne Airlines’ seaplane operations were affected by a pilot shortage and an internal power failure at the hangar on St. Croix, leading to flight cancellations on Tuesday and today, a Seaborne official said. “The decision was made to cancel the flights,” Phil Lambrechts, Seaborne’s executive director of Operations, said. Flights are scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. Thursday, and passengers will be rebooked or refunded, Lambrechts said.

CROIX — Retired and active government employees owed $22.5 million in retroactive wages can expect to receive their payments by May 30 now that Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has approved a $62.6 million appropriation bill primarily funded with monies the government received as part of a settlement agreement with the Estate of Jeffrey Epstein, according to the governor’s transmittal letter to the Senate president.

CROIX — The Senate Committee on Ethical Conduct has determined additional time is needed to investigate claims against At-Large Senator Angel Bolques Jr., alleging workplace harassment, financial mismanagement, misconduct, unethical behavior, and creating a hostile work environment, extending its deadline to May 30, according to a statement issued today. The formal complaint was filed with the Office of the Senate President on March 26.

ST. CROIX — The Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center has activated its Incident Command Post and continues providing patient care after a data discovery incident the Information Technology Department found Saturday morning wiped out the hospital’s internet and internal network, according to the hospital spokesperson. “Our inpatient/outpatient services are still operational, so patient care is still happening,” Aniah John, JFL public information officer, said Monday.

ST. CROIX — A civil lawsuit recently filed against Walton Jack Jr. in the Superior Court on St. Croix claims the retired police lieutenant caused a car crash that injured a mother and her minor child while negligently operating his vehicle on May 1, 2023 near Northside Road.
