Earlier this month, a unique week-long pop-up art exhibition opened in New York City, showcasing over 200 curated Israeli artworks created in the wake of the October 7 Hamas attacks. A group of volunteers came together to organize the project shortly after the attacks, which left over 1,200 people dead and more than 300 abducted to Gaza. The goal of the project was to allow art to act as a healing tool.

Shelley Berkley and Victoria Seaman are running in the general election for mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 5, 2024. Berkley and Seaman were the top two primary vote-getters on June 11, 2024, and both advanced to the general election because neither won a majority of the votes. Incumbent Carolyn Goodman, who was first elected in 2011, is term-limited. Goodman’s husband, Oscar, served as Las Vegas mayor from 1999 to 2011.

Six candidates are running in the general election for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District on Nov. 5, 2024. Incumbent Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R) and Janelle Bynum (D) lead in endorsements, campaign finance, and media attention. This third rematch between Chavez-DeRemer and Bynum will take place in a district that Joe Biden (D) won by 8.8 percentage points. Bynum defeated Chavez-DeRemer twice to represent District 51 in the Oregon House of Representatives.

Voters in Juneau, Alaska, will decide on three ballot measures on Oct. 1, including two bond measures and an initiative to ban cruise ships from the city on Saturdays. Proposition 2, an initiative sponsored by Ship-Free Saturdays, would ban cruise ships with 250 passengers or more from docking, mooring, or disembarking passengers in Juneau on Saturdays and on July 4. To get an initiative on the Juneau ballot, 2,359 valid signatures were required.

Incumbent Scott Perry (R) and Janelle Stelson (D) are running in the general election for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District on November 5, 2024. In 2022, Perry defeated Shamaine Daniels (D) 53.8% to 46.2%. On the same ballot, Josh Shapiro (D) defeated Doug Mastriano (R) in the district by 12 percentage points in the state’s gubernatorial election.
