Carlsen, who had been leading for much of the match, slammed his fist on the table after the defeat, apologised to Gukesh for his outburst, and stormed off. Gukesh acknowledged the win wasn't ideal but stated he would take it, while his coach credited Gukesh's stubbornness and resourcefulness.
