VASSAR — Greek philosopher Heraclitus once said that the only constant in life is change. While largely correct, not everything is fleeting. Sometimes, through hard work and dedication, one can do something that is remembered for decades to come. Tim Fall, a 1975 Vassar graduate and a former harrier for the Vulcans, was honored at a football game on October 25 for setting the Vassar boys cross country record back in 1974 that has remained for 50 years.

CARO — A resident of Caro reported an alleged wolf sighting to The Advertiser over the weekend. The individual spotted it through a window in the parking lots of List Psychological Services and the former Rite Aid, chasing a pair of deer while around 15-25 paces behind them. The animal headed northwest on the railroad tracks before it left their field of view. The alleged wolf was described as brownish and smaller than a German Shepherd.

REESE — The Cass City Red Hawks traveled to Rocket Bowling Bar & Grill on Thursday to face off against Reese on their home turf. Cass City won both the girls and boys contests, winning the former 26-4 and the latter 29-1. The Red Hawks’ girls baker match scores of 87 and 102 bested the Rockets, who turned in totals of 51 and 56. In the regular series, Cass City outscored Reese, 925-514. Zion Bucchinger of the Rockets had the highest two-game score of the contest with a 276.

CARO — With the History Channel’s hit show, “American Pickers,” set to film in Michigan this spring, the production is looking for places to stop in the Thumb on their quest for antiques. “American Pickers,” which launched in 2010, has had a lengthy, 26-season run and shows no signs of slowing down. The documentary series is planning to film episodes in the area in March of this year.
