SCARBOROUGH, Maine — This weekend is Mother’s Day, which means it’s time to pamper the moms in our lives, so I wanted to find ways to support local small businesses while coming up with gift ideas. The Morrison Center, an amazing organization that supports children and adults with disabilities, is hosting a Makers Market and Plant Sale this from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at their greenhouses in Scarborough.

PORTLAND, Maine — Myler Makes...Margaritas! There are plenty of foods that feel essential for Cinco de Mayo—but let’s be real, there’s one drink that tops them all: the margarita. PORTLAND, Maine — Easter Sunday means many things to many people, but it also means lots of chocolate all around. PORTLAND, Maine — Water takes longer to heat up or cool down compared to air. That's because of something called heat capacity. Water has a high heat capacity. In comparison, air has a low heat capacity, so it gets warmer and cooler much faster than water does. At this point, it's spring, and the air is starting to heating up. But the water cooled all winter long and stays cold longer than the air, essentially acting like an ice pack during warmer seasons.

PORTLAND, Maine — The weather may not feel like it just yet, but we're slowly getting closer to warmer days ahead. And with that, this week marks the National Weather Service's Cold Water Safety Awareness Week. As summer draws near, many of us are looking forward to getting into the water. But before you dive in, here's something important to keep in mind: Cold water can be just as dangerous as extreme heat.
