Per Yakima County, The Yakima County Fire Marshal has issued a revised county-wide burn ban for unincorporated Yakima County. The ban takes effect Sunday, June 1, 2025, and expires Monday, September 1, 2025. Outdoor open burning, including bonfires and recreational fires, or burning vegetation and waste materials, is not allowed. However, residential outdoor activities such as charcoal barbeques and wood pellet smokers may be used.

Traffic at the intersection of South 1st Street and East Walnut Avenue will be one lane in all four directions Wednesday morning, May 28th. Work is scheduled to begin at 6:30 am on Wednesday. It is expected to be completed by 12:30 pm. The traffic signal will be dark during Wednesday morning’s project work hours. It will be replaced with temporary stop signs in each direction. Lane closures and the signal outage are required so crews can upgrade the traffic signal’s mounting fixtures.
