The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) are undertaking work
to understand better how consumer protection legislation can be
used to tackle false or misleading environmental claims that affect
consumers. These misleading claims are often referred to as
'greenwashing'.
On 12 December 2023, the CMA announced in a press release that it will scrutinise
green claims made by the consumer goods group Unilever in relation
to some of their products in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG)
category.

places specific obligations upon various online service providers
to this end. The OSA received Royal Assent on 26 October 2023,

In September 2023, the UK Information Commissioner, John Edwards, and the Chief Executive of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Lindy Cameron, signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that set out how both organisations will increase levels of collaboration and cooperation. The main areas of collaboration between the organisations will involve developing cybersecurity standards and guidance, as well as improvements in the cybersecurity of regulated organisations.

In July 2022, OFCOM published a roadmap setting out plans for its implementation of the Online Safety Bill (“OSB”) and its proposed code of practice on illegal content. OFCOM has recently updated these preparations now that the OSB is at the final stages of the parliamentary process. On the 31 August 2023, the House of Commons Science, Innovation and Technology Select Committee published an interim report on its inquiry into the Governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) (which we wrote about previously here).
