Political scientists in the country yesterday asked the federal government to fund political parties in order to make them effective and accountable. They posited that the roles of political parties are so critical to the survival of democracy and its growth, adding that money bags should not be allowed to hijack them. Gunmen have kidnapped seven occupants of two private vehicles at Eleyin Village in Isin local government area of Kwara State. LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident happened at about 5:45pm last Friday when about five armed men blocked the highway, stopping two private vehicles and forcefully taking all occupants to an unknown location. Sources disclosed that two occupants of one of the vehicles are the head, Legal Department at Oke Ero local government area, Barr.

Following the invasion of parts of Kwara North by suspected terrorists, the 16 local government areas in Kwara State have acquired 320 motorcycles for distribution to members of the vigilante groups across the state. LEADERSHIP gathered that the motorcycles were meant to aid the mobility of the local vigilantes in the thick forest where bandits and kidnappers usually hibernate.
