Troops of 22 Armoured Brigade, deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi in Kwara North, have arrested eight (8) suspected kidnappers during a coordinated raid on their enclave. During the raid on Saturday, the troops also rescued two kidnap victims from the suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Patigi. Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Brigade Ilorin, Stephen Nwako disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

The first batch of 558 pilgrims from Kwara State yesterday returned to Ilorin, the state capital, after completing the 2025 hajj in Saudi Arabia. The pilgrims arrived the Babatunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin aboard a Max Airline flight at 6:19am. They were accompanied by a member of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Hajia Khadijat Otuyo. The state government had on Tuesday announced that pilgrims from the state would return in four batches starting from Saturday.

A total of nine (9) inmates regained their freedom from correctional facilities in Ilorin, Kwara State, following the payment of their fines by a philanthropist who chose to be anonymous. LEADERSHIP reports that six of the inmates were freed from Oke-Kura prison, while the remaining three were freed from Mandala facility, both in Ilorin, the state capital. It was gathered that the anonymous philanthropist, secured the release of the inmates after paying their fines from his annual Zakat (charity).
