While citizens are concerned that the country’s only gliding centre at Hadapsar, Pune, may be privatised, union minister of state for civil aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, allayed their fears by assuring that there will be no privatisation of the facility. The gliding centre spans 230 acres in Hadapsar and is owned by the director general of civil aviation (DGCA). However, the process to hand it over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has started.

Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar has issued strict orders to take action against individuals bursting firecrackers late at night to celebrate birthdays following numerous complaints from citizens and legal professionals, officials said on Thursday. The directive comes in response to grievances that the police are not adequately addressing the disturbance caused by late-night birthday celebrations in public places, including on roads and at chowks.

India, Jan. 16 -- Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Prashant Jagtap who contested and lost the recently held state assembly polls from the Hadapsar assembly constituency has written to the Pune district collector, seeking clarity on verification of 5% of the votes which he had sought earlier. Jagtap has also requested the district collector to communicate to him the date when the verification process will be conducted.
