A federal judge in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday temporarily blocked enforcement of President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting Susman Godfrey. U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan said that the executive order likely violates the law firm’s First and Fifth Amendment rights. AliKhan said Susman Godfrey is entitled to a restraining order against sections one, three and five of the executive order.

Who Got The Work J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

With President Donald Trump now securing deals with nine Big Law firms to provide at least $940 million worth of free legal services, more questions are emerging about the type of “pro bono” work the firms will actually provide. Trump has said he wants the firms to work on trade negotiations or coal leasing, but those matters must pass a conflict check, and it’s not clear what would happen if a firm refuses the work.

Susman Godfrey filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration Friday, becoming the fourth law firm to challenge an executive order signed by President Donald Trump. Susman Godfrey, represented by Donald Verrilli of Munger, Tolles & Olson, is asking a D.C. federal court to enjoin the executive order that was issued Wednesday and ultimately declare it unconstitutional.
