It’s June! I can hardly believe it. The amount that happened in the first five months of this year makes my head spin, both globally and personally. My expectation of the year on January 1st were fully inaccurate and I’m navigating a new reality. I also have gotten to do really cool stuff, like travel to Sri Lanka, The Hamptons, and Austin for work and see Beyoncé. It’s been a wild ride and has also knocked the wind out of me. This weekend, I really felt that toll.

I’m writing to you from 30,000 feet on my way to Austin for work—thank you for all the recs. I’ll share where I ate next week. I know I’m getting tacos as soon as I land. In New York, we did not get beach weather this weekend but it was still a nice stretch of resting, hanging with friends, and couch (and play) time with Este. I wrote last week about embracing a different summer than I was expecting and part of that means sitting with fewer plans and more alone time.

Tomorrow is the start of Memorial Day weekend, which is the unofficial start of summer. I’m both excited and nervous for this season, which has historically been my favorite. I met my ex seven years ago in May and our first summer is filled with vivid memories that I know I’ll run into on many corners. Thank god a new Lorde album is coming to help me process it all. I have a strong urge to create new memories and a practical need to create those memories on a budget.

I’m writing to you from the Philly —> NYC Amtrak, which means we are so back. I’m sipping a Ghia (client) and looking at New Jersey from the window. This week was very full and very special. I went to the Hamptons with my client Tate’s Bake Shop for their first ever brand trip. We visited the original bake shop, made chocolate chip cookies (they are unreal hot out of the oven), and had so much fun celebrating the brand and summer, which is so close.

Today’s subject line quotes Leonard Cohen, who was quoted by the Rabbi at Brandon and Alyssa’s beautiful wedding. He spoke about the tradition of breaking the glass and offered a few explanations, including one from Leonard Cohen, “There’s a crack, a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.” It was such a beautiful evening, on a perfect spring day in Red Hook full of light. I was a little nervous about attending my first wedding since the breakup, but I had a great time.
