More than 9.5 million people around the world take part in a Burns Supper celebration every year. Find out more about the prolific poet and lyricist, Robert Burns, who died in 1796, aged just 37 years. Who is Robert Burns? Robert Burns is one of the world’s most famous poets. People around the world sing his song “Auld Lang Syne” at Hogmanay/New Year. Of non-religious figures he comes second only to Queen Victoria and Christopher Columbus in the number of statues dedicated to him worldwide.

We’ve featured some lovely Christmas poems in our recent issues, and it got me thinking about poetry at Christmas in general.
