The Senate suspended Natasha Akpoti-Udughan, the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, for six months on Thursday. Her suspension came amid the sexual harassment claims she made against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. She formally petitioned the Senate over the claims on Wednesday, but the petition was deemed “dead on arrival”.

As predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) in February, rain is expected to start later than usual in Plateau and seven northern states. Residents of Takkas, a rural community in Plateau’s Pankshin Local Government Area (LGA), are worried. Takkas residents have been battling terrible roads for years, and when the rainy season starts, accompanied by flooding, movement becomes difficult on the road.

A woman who came out to support Senate President Godswill Akpabio at a protest said she did not know the story and accusations against the Akwa Ibom senator. Two groups of supporters, one on the side of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, and the other for Akpabio, protested at the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Three of six officials of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) recently arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for N96 million fraud were suspended in 2020 over a ‘ghost workers’ scandal. On Tuesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that six Kwara SUBEB officials were arraigned at the State High Court in Ilorin on a four-count charge of breach of trust and misappropriation of funds.

The autopsy of a two-year-old pupil of Smiley Kids Montessori, Sangotedo, Lagos State, indicates that she died of drowning. However, suspicions surrounding her death still linger and suspects must wait to have their day in court. Her family is concerned someone may have thrown their child into the pool or left her unsupervised. When the toddler died in January, the school said she drowned in the swimming pool on its premises. But the parents had doubts.
