The Department of Basic Education says 90% of the public schools are currently in a better position in terms of the infrastructure assessment conducted. The department gave an update on the progress made on school infrastructure to the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education in Parliament. It says this assessment includes issues of water and electricity provision, as well as sanitation and the eradication of pit toilets, among others.

The Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) is threatening another court litigation against the Speaker of the National Assembly Thoko Didiza. The party says if the consultation time for the tabling of the revised Budget is not extended further to include the public to make the inputs, the party will head to court again.
