Nomura Asset Management (AM) is planning to launch more UCITS funds for the Hong Kong retail market as part of the firm’s global push to grow its wholesale business. Davy Yuen, head of wholesale business at Nomura AM Hong Kong, told FSA in an interview that Hong Kong is a key priority for the firm in Asia due to its mature and developed fund market. “Our goal is to introduce some of our best-selling funds from our global UCITS platform and bring them to the Hong Kong market,” he said.

Amundi has hired Jian Xiong (pictured) to strengthen its investment offerings and bespoke solutions for insurance clients in Asia. Based in the firm’s Singapore office, Xiong will report to Eddy Wong, chief executive officer, Asia and Lawrence Wee, head of institutional sales, South Asia. Xiong was previously a senior director in Aberdeen Group’s Apac insurance solutions team. He is also a member of the Expert Committee at the Insurance Asset Management Association of China (IAMAC).
