    Days before opening day in March, the Philadelphia Phillies filed a lawsuit accusing a data analytics firm of breaching its contract. The baseball team argued in court filings that by shopping parts of its platform that assists in decision making to divisional rivals, Zelus Analytics was risking the Phillies’ World Series aspirations. They asked a judge to prevent any such sale. But the Phillies struck out, and the judge denied their request in April, saying the team didn’t prove imminent harm.

    A Black firefighter is accusing the city of discrimination based on the Philadelphia Fire Department’s policy that restricts certain hairstyles. Bariq Fluellen, who has been working as a firefighter for over a decade, alleges that he has been facing discrimination and harassment because of his locs, according to a complaint filed Wednesday with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. The hairstyle is significant to Fluellen as a Black person and Rastafarian.

    A group representing retired Chester workers filed a lawsuit Wednesday in an escalation of their effort to open the sale of the bankrupt city’s water assets to private companies. The Retiree Committee, which represents the largest creditor group in Chester’s bankruptcy, say that the plan by a state-appointed bankruptcy receiver to only accept bids that would keep the water assets controlled by publicly owned companies would result in the city getting less money in a sale.

The inability of the Phillies organization, and the coaching staff, to ride the ship since the all-star break shouldn’t get any less attention than the Eagles collapse last year. Waiting for October and hoping it will solve everything isn’t a solution.
