Armed men loyal to notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji have reportedly attacked and sacked four communities in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, including Bafarawa, the hometown of former governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa. No fewer than 13 hunters are feared dead after suspected Lakurawa terrorists ambushed a seasonal hunting expedition in Hurumi Forest, Talewa ward, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Daily Trust gathered that the hunters, who came from various communities in Tangaza and Gwadabawa LGAs of the state, encountered the terrorists between 12 noon and 1pm on Thursday during their annual hunting trip, despite repeated warnings from local authorities over the threat of violence in the area.

The Governing Council of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, has approved the appointment of Hajiya Nafisa Barau Suleiman, as its 3rd substantive registrar. The appointment was approved at the 29th meeting of the council which was held April 22 to 25, 2025, in Abuja. Hajiya Nafisa Barau Suleiman holds an MA in English Language from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS), Sokoto. She is the first female registrar of the 12-year-old institution.
