LUDLOW — The Ludlow Post 36 American Legion baseball team boasts quality pitching. Ludlow flashed its depth on the mound in Saturday's doubleheader with White River Junction Post 84. The Southern Division squads split the doubleheader with White River Junction winning the first game 4-2 and Ludlow taking the nightcap 10-4 at Pullinen FieldThe four pitchers that Post 36 used were very effective. Milo Tucker, a Vermont Academy standout, pitched six innings in the first game loss.

Being in charge of protecting a small lead against your rival, it's a pressure-packed spot for anybody taking the mound. That was the position that Chris Watson, fresh off his high school freshman season, was in for the Rutland Post 31 American Legion baseball team on Thursday. Add to it even more, and there's the fact that it was his first Legion pitching appearance. The pressure was no problem for the right-hander.

The Rutland Post 31 American Legion baseball team got its season rolling on a gloomy Tuesday afternoon, losing to perennial contender Brattleboro Post 5 9-3 at St. Peter's Field. Brattleboro took the lead in the first inning and never looked back. Leadoff man Spencer Claussen opened the game with a single off of Rutland stater Priyam Patel and eventually scored on a passed ball.

CASTLETON — The West Rutland softball team is used to the pressure of a big game. It's a feeling many of the Golden Horde's players have felt since before they could even drive. With their senior class playing in their ninth state final of their high school career, top-seeded West Rutland wasn't going to succumb to a little adversity in Monday's Division IV state championship game against No. 3 Leland & Gray.

MONTPELIER – An eighth inning go-ahead grand slam from Nick Romano sealed Keene’s eighth straight win Sunday as the SwampBats shocked Vermont, 4-1. The Mountaineers no-hit the SwampBats through seven innings, but the two-out rally in the eighth dropped Vermont to 3-6 on the season while Keene improves to 8-1. Eddie Albert got the start on the mound for Vermont and tossed three no-hit innings with five strikeouts and no walks. He allowed two batters to reach base on a hit by pitch and an error.
