A dramatic 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw Lando Norris seal McLaren‘s first constructors’ championship since 1998 despite Ferrari‘s charge to a double-podium resulting in a tense final few laps at Yas Marina Circuit. Max Verstappen took Oscar Piastri out at the first corner, handing second place to Carlos Sainz and taking the Australian out of the race at the front while Verstappen called the Formula 1 stewards ‘idiots’ for handing him a 10-second penalty.

Lando Norris will lead a McLaren 1-2 at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after blowing away the rest of the field in qualifying, but Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc had calamitous sessions and are both set to start in the bottom five at Yas Marina Circuit. Nico Hulkenberg confirmed Haas‘ free practice pace by shooting to the top of Q3 with his final lap and eventually qualifying fourth, just ahead of Max Verstappen, but no one could get within two tenths of an inspired Norris.
