ERIC, the Education Resources Information Center, is an open access online library where anyone can search, read and download millions of documents related to education going back roughly six decades.

News Brief Tuesday October 1, 2024 10:20 am Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill Monday banning admission based on legacy and donor preferences at California’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities. Assembly Bill 1780, sponsored by Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) prohibits private, nonprofit institutions from considering these factors in the admissions process. These factors have long been banned from consideration at California’s public colleges and universities.
