    Sales of new single‐family houses in May 2024 — the most recent stats available — were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 619,000, lower than the April rate, according to the latest New Residential Sales (NRS) estimates released by the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This was 11.3% (±15.5%) below the revised April rate of 698,000 and 16.5% (±16.2%) below the May 2023 estimate of 741,000.

    The 2023 ABS “First Look” tables provide preliminary estimates on the financing activities, impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sales and reshoring activities of U.S. employer businesses in 2022. The Annual Business Survey uses the collection year in the survey name rather than a single reference year. Therefore, the 2023 ABS covers reference year 2022 to cover all of the business activity during that calendar year.
