LAKE FOREST, Ill. - As the Chicago Bears head their separate ways for the summer, coach Ben Johnson hopes his first offseason program left an impression on his players. "I think when these guys walk away, they understand what the expectation level is," Johnson said. "I hope they also understand our coaching staff a little bit better as well.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - One of the highlights from the third and final day of the Chicago Bears' mandatory minicamp was backup quarterback Case Keenum making a behind-the-back catch with two hands. It came after quarterback Caleb Williams caught a deep pass from receiver Devin Duvernay (who first made a catch on a throw from backup QB Tyson Bagent) and raced into the end zone where he screamed and celebrated. Ben Johnson didn't have a job. After eight seasons with the Miami Dolphins, which included numerous roles, coaching positions and promotions, he was out of work and in NFL limbo. It was an unwelcome feeling for a 33-year-old coach with big dreams. "I kind of got the feeling that the cycle had already gone by," Johnson said of his job status in 2019, "and I would have to wait till the next cycle."Johnson, though, couldn't stay away from football. He needed it.
