A beautiful ancient Buddha statue has been found in North Korea. It dates back around 1,000 years to the early Goryeo dynasty, which lasted from 918 to 1392 A.D. The statue was discovered in Yakjon-ri, South Phyongan Province, by archaeologists from the Korean Archaeology Institute and the National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. The statue is 1.7 meters tall and shows the Buddha Amitābha, an important figure in Mahayana Buddhism.
