By Adam LucasTo give you some perspective on the length of a college baseball season, there was a time this season when people doubted Carolina's toughness. That was back in mid-March, when the Heels split the first two games with Stanford…then lost the third. The next weekend, they split the first two games at Louisville…then lost the third. The very next weekend, they split the first two games at Boston College, losing a difficult 3-2 game on Saturday.

Lucas: Oklahoma Rapid Reactions (3)June 2, 2025 | Baseball, Featured Writers, Adam LucasBy Adam Lucas1. Dominant performance in a must-win game, as Carolina got it done in every possible way in thumping Oklahoma, 14-4. 2. Maybe we shouldn't be surprised. In beating the Sooners, Carolina did what it has largely done consistently this year. The Tar Heels lost their first two series-deciding games of the year, falling at home to Stanford and on the road at Louisville.

By Adam Lucas1. You always knew this was going to be a tough regional. Oklahoma built some momentum in their afternoon shellacking of Nebraska and carried it over to the evening game, holding on for a 9-5 win over the Tar Heels. 2. Carolina simply wasn't sharp enough to win that game. They committed a pair of errors (which led to five unearned runs), had a passed ball, and most uncharacteristically, had trouble throwing strikes. 3. The control issues were staff-wide.

By Adam Lucas1. One of the most impressive wins in a season full of impressive wins, as Carolina put runs on the board early against Kyson Witherspoon and cruised to an 11-5 win. The Tar Heels will now play Sunday at 6 p.m. against the winner of the 1 p.m. Nebraska-Oklahoma game. If Carolina wins that 6 p.m. game, they advance to the super regional round. A loss would mean a winner-take-all rematch on Monday. 2.

By Adam Lucas1. Carolina got what it needed with a 4-0 opening game shutout of Holy Cross. The Tar Heels got terrific pitching, very good defense and enough offense to move into the winner's bracket, which is all that matters in this type of game. 2. Another outstanding outing from Carolina starter Jake Knapp. The ACC Pitcher of the Year threw 8.1 tremendous innings before a hit in the ninth cost him a complete game bid.

Ain’t gonna lie the @carolina_pod #RHC of “Major League” is already awesome and I haven’t even gotten past the music part yet. Got me all back in my memories because that was right in my wheelhouse back in the day. Such great tunes. 80’s music rocks! @JonesAngell @jadamlucas

Reminder: @TheRamsClub is looking for member input on any/all of these questions with a deadline of tomorrow: Who is your favorite Tar Heel storyteller and/or what is your favorite Tar Heel Sports Network call? Who do you feel has been important to enhancing your Carolina

Feels like it is from another time (because it is). Also would make a really good template for a @UNCFootball throwback jersey at some point.

Never know what you'll stumble across. Great view of the old press box in Kenan Stadium pre-1988. Referee signaling safety as LT rampages through Georgia Tech backfield. Shirts and ties in the background and no doubt one of those 1 p.m. kick-offs. https://t.co/KMQaj0aU30
