By Adam LucasThey arrived early on Friday. With a 12 noon game, the first fans were in line before 8 a.m. They brought with them lawn chairs and fast food breakfasts and laptops to pretend to be in the office. These were the essentials for a day of waiting in line for standing room only tickets to game one of the super regional matching Carolina against Arizona. Maybe that is when Chapel Hill became a baseball town. In right field, beyond the fence, fans began setting up their chairs even earlier.

By Adam Lucas1. Heartbreaking finish to an excellent season, as Arizona capitalized in the eighth inning and held on for a 4-3 win. It's a devastating end after things were feeling so good on Friday afternoon. Twenty percent of eventual super regional winners don't win game one. Unfortunately, that was the case in Chapel Hill. 2. That eighth inning will be one Tar Heel players, coaches and fans are thinking about for a long time.

By Adam Lucas1. It will be winner take all on Sunday, as Arizona held on for a 10-8 win in game two of the super regional. 2. The story of the game was the Arizona offense. The Wildcats pounded out 16 hits on the way to the win, and until Folger Boaz retired them in order in the eighth, they had a hit in every inning. Every Wildcat hitter in the starting lineup had at least one hit. It was that kind of offensive day. 3. And the Tar Heels will rue some missed opportunities.

By Adam LucasWhen we look back on this game in the future, we'll never remember that there was a time that Arizona had all the momentum. The hot-hitting Wildcats, fresh off 15 home runs in the Eugene Regional, had a terrific top of the first inning. After a strikeout, Aaron Walton swatted a double. A groundout efficiently moved him to third, and then he scored on Adonys Guzman's line drive single.

By Adam Lucas1. Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three super regional with a dominating 18-2 win over Arizona. 2. The Tar Heels fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first...and didn't seem to care at all. They responded with five runs before making an out in the bottom of the first, retaking all the momentum from the visitors and establishing a tone they continued for the rest of the game. 3. A big part of the offensive explosion came from Luke Stevenson, who had been 1 for his last 20.

New column: The @DiamondHeels aren't going to Omaha. But everything about this weekend--the right field fans and the Lion King and, yes, even the way it ended--was a reminder of what's happened in Chapel Hill over the last 20 years. https://t.co/eV7UJCk8cK https://t.co/M9suOKRP8y

New column: Saturday's @DiamondHeels game was frustrating, full of failure and didn't make sense. In other words, it was baseball. https://t.co/Fm804YwB86 https://t.co/LTttd5hdIq
