I’ve been a Switch OLED devotee for years now with very few regrets. Also, when I’m not flicking Joy-Cons, I’m usually Steam Decking. So when the Switch 2 dropped into our collective laps, the question for me wasn’t “Is this thing good?” but rather: “Is it different enough?” Especially for those of us already living that premium portable life. After spending four days with this new beast, I feel I have a firm handle on the joys and cons of what it provides.

Updated: Jun 6, 2025 12:51 amMy old man is a stoic, rug-on-Valium kind of guy, and it takes a lot to make him shriek like a horror movie starlet. That said, I do recall seeing him on the verge of this as he clawed at the dash of my ‘86 Ford Laser during my very first L’s lesson. It would be the one and only father-son attempt we’d make. He gladly shelled out for professional lessons (and possibly therapy for himself) the next day.

Those game shop and digital shelves are looking mighty tempting this Friday, with price drops that’ll loosen even the tightest wallet strings. Whether you’re planning a wintry weekend indoors or chipping away at your gaming backlog, this fresh stack of discounts across consoles and PC has something worth clicking into. From long-awaited sequels to welcome cuts on prime Switch 2 launch titles.

It’s a corker of a week for gaming discounts (and very imminent console launches). Basically, your backlog is about to get even heavier. From experimental indies to sprawling open worlds, the savings this week are spread across all platforms like butter on warm banana bread. And with some of these titles dipping to historic lows, it’s not a bad time to fill in the gaps in your shelf (digital or otherwise).

If your backlog isn’t looking daunting enough already, a fresh crop of digital deals is here to test your willpower. My haul for today spans iconic collections, cerebral indies, and a few deeply discounted blockbusters that are hard to ignore. Whether you’re chasing nostalgia or keen to experience bold experiments in game design, there’s something worthwhile in every category.

The Nintendo DS turns 20 in Oz today. A brightly backlit frontier opened up to me when I first opened the clamshell of this silver beast. In time, it birthed the DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL to the tune of 154M units sold. Also, bangers aplenty in its insane 3,000+ games library. https://t.co/D0uVxTVvkH

Well, I'm addicted to #EldenRingNightreign and the zippy as hell, bane of kidneys everywhere Duchess class. Here it is running on a PS5 Pro rather well indeed. Can't wait to play more. https://t.co/a4naCHWLPp
