In terms of likelihood, Tony Gustavsson coaching another game for the Matildas is up there with the Seine River becoming drinkable. The Matildas are out of the Olympics, Gustavsson is out of contract. Aside from existential crisis, nothing is certain in Australian football, but one would hope Football Australia has a list of ideal candidates to be approached as the 2026 Asian Cup on home soil appears over the horizon.

You scream incoherently, and can't look away. This Olympics has all the makings of another hypercharged campaign. Like the mayhem in the silence of Tokyo. Like the home World Cup that stood a nation so still, only Cathy Freeman could comprehend.
