This video and article contain paid promotion for Schindler. LET'S face it: few feats of construction are more awe-inspiring than a skyscraper. Around the world these buildings tower over our cities: emerging from the context of their time, maximising floor area on site, pushing engineers to the max and standing as markers of our progress. But they wouldn’t be viable without one very simple thing: the elevator. Think about it for a moment.

THE WORLD is about to get a new second tallest building. The Burj Azizi is currently under construction in Dubai and will stand a staggering 725-metres above the city when it completes. That height will put it into the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s “megatall” category and see it overtake the world’s current second tallest building: Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur. Above: The Burj Azizi will become the world's latest megatall skyscraper. Image courtesy of Azizi Developments.

If you were one of the 20 million viewers who watched the TV series “MythBusters,” then Adam Savage needs no introduction. As co-host of the hit show for 17 years, Savage—who is a special effects designer and builder—reinvigorated public interest in science education by gleefully using the scientific method to blow up (sometimes literally) popular urban legends.

AbstractSpatially resolved transcriptomics technologies have significantly enhanced our ability to understand cellular characteristics within tissue contexts. However, they present a trade-off between spatial resolution and transcriptome coverage. This limitation, compounded with analytical tools treating cell type inference and cellular neighbourhood identification as separate processes, hinders a unified understanding of tissue features across scales.

Video narrated and hosted by Fred Mills. SOMETHING huge is being constructed in a remote corner of Japan. It’s costing over half a billion dollars and is the biggest of its kind in the world. It’s been in development for over 20 years, it's over 80 metres high and nearly 70 metres wide. But you’re not going to spot it very easily because this enormous structure is hidden deep in the landscape – quite literally – and when it’s finished it’ll look like nothing else on earth – well, almost.
