Now the President has demanded, in the context of ongoing protests in Los Angeles: “ARREST THE PEOPLE IN FACE MASKS, NOW!” But the truth is: whether you are afraid of catching an airborne illness from your fellow protestors, or you are concerned about reprisals from police or others for expressing your political opinions in public, you should have the right to wear a mask.

    Until my son moved into his College Park dorm room last month, I always made his bed before I turned in for the night. Most parents probably think I'm crazy. "Coddle him, much?" Some might ask. Maybe I tidied his covers each night because he didn't always sleep well, and I wanted to give him a good start on a good night's rest. Maybe I wanted to close out my day by affirming how deeply loved he is. Maybe the love my mother poured into me lives still - from her, to me, to him.

    In a victory for free speech and privacy, a federal appellate court confirmed last week that parts of the California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act likely violate the First Amendment, and that other parts require further review by the lower court. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit correctly rejected rules requiring online businesses to opine on whether the content they host is “harmful” to children, and then to mitigate such harms.
