SALT LAKE CITY — Water watchers say the Great Salt Lake has peaked for the year and will lose water between now and fall. But with a hot, dry summer in the forecast, the lake could take a step back. The Great Salt Lake typically rises and then falls about 2 feet every year, with snow and then summer heat. But year-over-year, the levels have only gone up since bottoming out in 2022, thanks to a couple of great winters. It broke even last year and only went up by about a foot and a half this winter.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s gas prices have managed to stay relatively low following Memorial Day weekend. On Thursday, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Utah was about $3.31 a gallon according to AAA Utah. That’s $.26 cheaper than this time one year ago. And it’s actually the cheapest that Utah’s gas prices have been in May since 2021.

According to KSL Greenhouse Host and Utah State University Extension Horticulturist Taun Beddes, you typically have to turn on the sprinkler sometime between late May and early June. “They normally go dormant in the summer because it’s too hot,” Beddes said.

SALT LAKE CITY — State health leaders are addressing the rapidly growing mental health crisis in Utah with the release of the Behavioral Health Master Plan. Data shows that Utah has the third highest share of adults with serious mental illness of any state in the nation. Additionally, research by the Utah Behavioral Health Coalition shows the state’s young adults with poor mental health has more than doubled over the last 10 years.
