A man will appear in court after he crashed his car multiple times in a shopping centre car park in Newcastle, NSW, last weekend. At about 4.15pm on Sunday, January 12, a 44-year-old man driving a red Mazda 3 tried to enter the car park of the Junction Fair Shopping Centre on Kenrick Street. Police claim he had to reverse the car back before managing to drive in. They alleged he then hit three consecutive bollards before crashing into a silver Mercedes sedan while trying to park.

A US man will appear in a Brisbane court today after he was arrested over an alleged attempt to smuggle cocaine hidden in haircare product bottles into Australia. On December 26, 2024, Australian Border Force officers at Brisbane Airport selected the man, 33, for a search after drug detection dogs alerted them. The man had travelled to Brisbane on a flight from the US.ABF officers retrieved a 946ml shampoo bottle and a conditioner bottle of the same size from the man's luggage.

Two men have been found stabbed to death in Melbourne overnight. Emergency services were called to a property on Observatory Street in Clyde North at about 9.30pm after reports of an altercation. Police found two men with wounds investigators say were consistent with a stabbing. Medical treatment was provided but both men died at the scene. They are both yet to be formally identified. It's believed a third male left the address before police arrived, and he is currently sought.

The suspicious death of a 56-year-old man in northern Queensland remains at the centre of a "complex" investigation almost 18 months later, police have said. Isaac Oar was found dead at a home in Alice Street, Ayr, south of Townsville, at about 9.18pm on Thursday, August 10, 2023.Oar, also known as "Ike", had Down syndrome and was non-verbal, police said.Since his death, police have conducted "extensive and thorough inquires" into Oar's health, care, and treatment.

Two beaches remain closed after ball-shaped debris washed up onshore at multiple popular oceanside spots in Sydney's north. The balls, coloured white and grey and mostly small in size, were spotted on Manly, Dee Why, Long Reef, Queenscliff, Freshwater, North and South Curl Curl, North Steyne and North Narrabeen beaches. Northern Beaches council confirmed that only South Curl Curl and Dee Why beaches remain closed today as assessment and clean-up continues.

The state's early warning program identified the virus in two mosquito traps in Moira Shire, the first mosquito-borne disease detections this season. It follows similar recent detections in New South Wales and a confirmed human case of Japanese encephalitis identified in Victoria in December.
