NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was shot in the face in broad daylight and two women were wounded just hours later in a pair of shootings in Harlem on Monday, police said. The 61-year-old man was sitting on a bench at the corner of West 154th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard at 2 p.m. when he was shot. Police said there was some sort of dispute at the corner, and a gunman came up and opened fire.

Kathy Hochul said Wednesday as she and other officials laid out measures that include increased bag checks, the accelerated installation of cameras on subway trains and a potential three-year transit ban for criminals.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A deli worker was fatally shot and killed on the job in Brooklyn on Monday afternoon—by a man who demanded a free cigar from him, according to police, sources and the victim's family. The 37-year-old victim, Nazim Berry, was working at the Amin Deli at 801 Franklin Ave. in Crown Heights around 4:15 p.m. when he was involved in a dispute that led to him getting shot in the head outside the store, according to police.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 7-year-old boy survived a three-story fall from the 12th floor of an apartment high-rise in East Harlem on Friday morning—apparently after a deck broke his fall. The child was playing at 200 East 131st St. shortly before 11 a.m. when he somehow fell from a window or balcony, police said. He plummeted three stories and landed on the ninth floor, where it appears a building terrace broke his fall and stopped him from plunging further to the street.

The product —Trader Joe’s Chicken, Lentil, & Caramelized Onion Pilaf—was produced on various dates from Nov. 1, 2023, through Jan. 19, 2024. The ready-to-eat rice “may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically rocks,” according to the USDA alert .
