Back in 2023, plans were revealed for a high-rise project in New York City that consisted of two connected towers. Named the Avenir, it has now undergone a dramatic redesign and will instead consist of one taller skyscraper, which will rise out of an unusual sculpted podium. The updated design is being handled by original architects CetraRuddy Architecture and Silverstein Properties is still developing. The location also remains unchanged and it will be situated on Manhattan’s Far West Side.

Here's a novel take on tiny living, courtesy of Australia's Elsewhere Pods. With its rugged exterior and compact footprint, France's Plume envisions its pint-sized Botanical Cabin as a chic lodge on wheels. Measuring just 6 m (20 ft), the tiny house features a light-filled interior layout on one level that's suitable for up to two people. The Botanical Cabin (translated from La Cabane botanique in French) is based on a double-axle trailer and its compact dimensions were chosen to ensure it's easy to tow into areas that are off the beaten track.

This example of extreme downsizing clocks in at a mere 11.5 ft (3.5 m) in length and has a surprisingly functional interior for up to two people. The Nano Micro House is based on a single-axle trailer and gets power from a standard RV-style hookup.

With space at such a premium in many modern cities, this project tackles the need for more new housing in an interesting way. Named Spoorweghaven, it's envisioned for a disused dock in the Netherlands and, assuming it goes ahead as planned, will be the largest floating community in Europe. Spoorweghaven is designed by both Denmark's MAST (Maritime Architecture Studio) and construction company BIK bouw.
