The Conversation Africa condemns the harassment of its West Africa editor, Adejuwon Soyinka, by Nigeria's Department of State Security operatives. Soyinka was detained for six hours on Sunday when he landed in Lagos on a flight from the UK. He was stopped by immigration officials on the basis that there was a problem with his passport.

The many floods and heat waves climate change causes make it hard for clinics and hospitals to cope, because people get injured or sick. Sierra Leone has appointed Africa’s first heat officer, who keeps track of data that tells the country when and where temperatures are rising and who looks at ways to cope with it.
