This shooter, however, will get up and walk away from it. The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office held four days of intensive Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training at Stringfellow Elementary School this week.

Published 12:28 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2025 MOULTRIE — Colquitt County Clerk of Court Donna Wilson has asked county commissioners for an additional $14,000 to fund an overdue software upgrade. “I am here this evening to make a request for an amendment to my budget,” Wilson told the commissioners at a recent budget meeting. Wilson’s office handles documents for State and Superior criminal courts, for county services and jury services.

Published 6:33 pm Monday, June 2, 2025 MOULTRIE — The Volunteer Fire Association, which is contracted by Colquitt County to provide fire services, has proposed hiring full-time firefighters. Colquitt County Administrator Chas Cannon presented the VFA’s proposal during a budget session last week. The VFA’s budget rose from $1.4 million in the current year to a requested $1.9 million for the coming year.

Published 11:30 am Tuesday, May 27, 2025 MOULTRIE — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society has asked for a $50,000 increase from the County for its contracted services as the county’s animal control. County Administrator Chas Cannon told the commissioners at a county budget meeting, “This is funded out of our insurance premium tax. It can only be spent on unincorporated items.”He said every city and the unincorporated county has a contract with animal control to provide that service.

Published 1:16 pm Friday, May 23, 2025 MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Christopher Martin, a resident of Colquitt County, following an investigation into reports of suspicious behavior at Main Street Park, located at 1220 S. Main St.On April 30, the Sheriff’s Office received a tip via its Facebook page from a concerned citizen, reporting a white male driving a gold Dodge truck, engaging in suspicious activity at Main Street Park.
