In January, Monica Rolax told the Colquitt County Commission about her safety concerns regarding the intersection of 10th Street and Tallokas Road. At last Tuesday’s meeting, County Administrator Chas Cannon reminded the commissioners about Rolax’s presentation.

Published 11:30 am Monday, May 12, 2025 MOULTRIE – The Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service is Friday, at 10 a.m., on the courthouse square at the amphitheater. The service will start with the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard Posting the Colors. Then, Eric Gonzalez will sing the National Anthem. Afterwards, Chaplain Arturo Hernandez will give the invocation. Moultrie Police Chief Chad Castleberry and Sheriff Rod Howell will both give welcome addresses.

Published 12:15 pm Friday, May 9, 2025 MOULTRIE — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society board of directors discussed funding options for a new building and the organization’s other needs at its May meeting. Executive Director Josh Lawson reported that 30 cats had been sent to rescue. Board member Jonathan Vines said, at 81 animals, the facility was maxed-out and Lawson agreed.

Published 6:11 am Friday, May 9, 2025 MOULTRIE – Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority President Amy Johnson gave updates to both the County Commission and the Development Authority last week on the progress of the Moultrie Exchange project. Through an inter-governmental agreement, Colquitt County, the City of Moultrie and the Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority are partially funding the Moultrie Exchange, a commercial development project on Veterans Parkway.

Published 4:38 pm Monday, May 5, 2025 MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County Cattlemen’s Association hosted a cattle tour Thursday. The group of about 40 loaded up on a tour bus and visited four cattle farms in the county, including Windy Pond Farm, Powell Cattle Farm, Baker Cattle Farm and Fenco Farms. The tour was led by Harry Thompson, former vice president of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association Region 14.
