IMPORTANCE: Serum tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) have been useful in the management of gastrointestinal and gynecological cancers; however, there is limited information regarding their utility in patients with appendiceal adenocarcinoma.

Key PointsQuestion Are serum tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9), or cancer antigen 125 (CA125) associated with outcomes in patients with appendiceal adenocarcinoma? Findings In this cohort study of 1338 patients, elevation of CEA, CA19-9, or CA125 was associated with significantly worse 5-year survival; 81% vs 95%, 84% vs 92%, and 69% vs 93% elevated vs normal, respectively.
