1 INTRODUCTION Despite having been studied for centuries, certain aspects of left ventricular anatomy remain either controversial or uncertain. In the first instance, a major problem exists in determining the boundaries of the ventricle. The mural atrioventricular junction provides a clear-cut boundary for part of its proximal extent.
