1 INTRODUCTION Despite having been studied for centuries, certain aspects of left ventricular anatomy remain either controversial or uncertain. In the first instance, a major problem exists in determining the boundaries of the ventricle. The mural atrioventricular junction provides a clear-cut boundary for part of its proximal extent.

1 INTRODUCTION As has been stated on several previous occasions, the right ventricle is very much the poor relation of its left ventricular counterpart (Ho & Nihoyannopoulos, 2006; Stubbs et al., 2023; Wang et al., 2019). This does not detract, however, from its integral role in supporting the normal pulmonary circulation.
