A GP who was brought up in the Isle of Man has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the King’s Birthday Honours. Dr Steven Quilliam said it was a ‘complete surprise’ to receive the honour. He has spent most of his working life in Northumbria, having been a GP in Prudhoe since 1986. The son of the late Leslie and Valerie Quilliam, he attended Peel Clothworkers Primary School and then St Ninian's High School for Boys.

Faith Margaret Ward is named in the King’s Birthday Honours (Avril Dixon)A former Ramsey Grammar School student has been named in the King’s Birthday Honours. Faith Margaret Ward is awarded the MBE for services to pensions and the environment. No longer an island resident, she has strong Manx connections and considers herself to be from the Isle of Man. Her proud parents Avril and Andrew Dixon are the former proprietors of St Paul's Bookshop Ltd, Ramsey.

Police raided the companies earlier this year (Isle of Man Constabulary)A trio of allied egaming companies that were raided by police this year as a part of an international money laundering inquiry have been placed into liquidation. Adrian Hyde and Andrew Paul Shimmin have been appointed provisional liquidators and deemed official receivers. The civil court also appointed a receiver for allied corporate trust Abundance Ltd.

Campervans and caravans parked at the Reayrt Vradda campsite (Media IoM)People have been living at a now-closed campsite in breach of planning consent, it has emerged. The Reayrt Vradda campsite site closed in TT Practice Week and the company which operated it has been placed into voluntary liquidation. Clerk Jason Roberts has confirmed the authority is owed ‘less than £10,000’ in unpaid rent.

Much of the site for Living Hope's new church has been demolished (Media IoM)Living Hope has submitted a revised application for its proposed new church in Douglas following an investigation into a possible breach of planning consent. In a covering letter submitted as part of the new application, the project’s architects said a section of wall had been ‘over-demolished’ due to structural concerns.
