    More than £16m of external funding will be invested into Nottingham city’s transport network in 2025/26 thanks to the new East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA).  Nottingham City Council is expected to officially accept the funding at its Executive Board meeting on Tuesday 22 April.  EMCCA, which has now taken over the role of directing the allocation of local transport funding, is providing funding for projects in Nottingham in four streams: This is a new funding stream for the region.

    Southampton City Council welcomed students from six secondary schools in the Southampton area to the first Modeshift Active Travel Ambassador event. The event was opened by the Southampton-born, Team GB paralympic gold medallist, Aaron Phipps MBE who praised the students for being role models. Aaron won Gold at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics in Wheelchair Rugby and spoke to students about his awe-inspiring journey, overcoming adversity and showing incredible resilience.

    A new 3D flyover video has been produced by Ceredigion County Council to show how proposals for the Waunfawr to IBERS Active Travel Link scheme will connect the communities of Penrhyn-coch and Bow Street via Comins Coch. The scheme will provide a ‘Campus to Campus’ link for Aberystwyth University staff and students between Penglais Campus and the new AIEC campus at Plas Gogerddan.

    Resilience on the A55 and opportunities for active travel have improved since the £30m Aber Tai’r Meibion scheme was officially opened, almost two years ago, according to the Welsh Government. The scheme, which included £20m of European funding, targeted a section of the A55 which was almost 50 years old and was not up to current design standards. It was prone to flooding and had very little safe provision for walkers and cyclists nearby.

    More than £8 million will be spent on making the streets of Brighton & Hove better, safer and smoother over the next year. Councillors will be presented with a report at Cabinet next week that sets out our plans for improving roads, pavements and other transport infrastructure. They’ll also be asked to agree the planned maintenance programme for the next 12 months. Brighton & Hove has over 390 miles of roads and cycle lanes and 750 miles of pavement.
