"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."You've got a new home to furnish, and you need to give it some personality. In fact, you need to make up a personality for yourself. You might be into photography. Perhaps literature, music, or film are more your thing. We just need something a bit more artistic than TV, and we need to showcase it.

The surprising truth is that halftime performers aren’t paid to perform at the Super Bowl.

In 2007, Esquire mailed 250 cocktail napkins to writers across the country with this request: fill the blank space with fiction. We received nearly 100 napkin stories and published them all as part of The Napkin Project. The project had been on the shelf—in our archive, to be exact—for the last sixteen years, until July 2023, when we revived it. We published additional rounds in December of that year (Holiday Edition), April 2024 (Love Stories), and July ’24 (Summer Vacation).
