Renowned singer, pianist and Howard alumna Roberta Flack died of cardiac arrest at the age of 88 on Feb. 24. In 2022, Flack announced via spokesperson that she was diagnosed with ALS, the brain disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis—also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
