(KFVS) - Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced Thursday that starting September 1, sales of any unregulated psychoactive cannabis products that come from hemp will be prohibited, including those containing Delta-8 and Delta-10 THC. Gov. Parson displayed two packets at the press conference which looked alike, one was a well-known candy brand, and the other appeared almost identical, but was a product containing THC derived from hemp.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - A question on increasing Kansas City Police Department’s funding is on the August election ballot. But, there is disagreement over whether this is an issue of statewide interest. The question on the ballot, if passed, will require Kansas City to spend one fourth of their general revenue toward the Police Department, as opposed to 20%, an increase of more than $38M.

(KFVS) - An annual report by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services found that around 70 women died due to pregnancy each year from 2018-2020 — making Missouri one of the worst states for pregnant women. Doctors hope the $7.2 million invested this year will change that. Across the nation, 85% of women suffer from post-partum blues, which includes anxiety and depression. This makes access to mental health resources more prevalent than ever.

(KFVS) - Missouri Speaker of the House Dean Plocher, R-Des Peres, announced a new committee Tuesday, which will evaluate the rate of violent crimes committed by undocumented immigrants, a rate he says has seen a recent spike. “People tend to be completely inflamed by the fact that when someone shouldn’t be here illegally in the first place or commit crimes, why are they even here? So we formed this committee,” Plocher said.
