The Medical and Dental Consultant’s Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, has decried the non-implementation of the 50% electricity subsidy by the federal government, which it said has placed a heavy burden on hospitals already burdened by indigent patients. DAILYPOST reports that the Federal Executive Council had announced approval of a 50% subsidy for public hospitals, however, recent events in hospitals show there was no implementation.

An early morning fire outbreak has destroyed parts of the popular Jos Terminus Market in Plateau State, on Wednesday. The inferno, which caught many traders unaware, raged through the night, reducing hundreds of stalls and goods to ashes. According to an anonymous witness, the fire started from a section of the market known for second-hand clothes, before rapidly spreading to other parts. However, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of filing this report.

More reactions have continued to trail the recent killings in some communities of Plateau State, as the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA has called for the prosecution of suspects arrested in connection with the attacks in the state rather than in Abuja. The NBA also said states across the country should be allowed to establish State Police, which will be armed with weapons to defend communities.

Christians under the aegis of Church Denominational Leaders Forum in Plateau State, on Monday, protested along the streets of Jos to the government house in Rayfield, Plateau State capital, over the recent resurgence of killings in the state. The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as “The Ground Cries Blood,” “Every Human Life Matters,” “We Deserve to Live,” and “No More Silence, Peace Now”.
