Sequel to the recent killings in Irigwe chiefdom of Bassa LGA of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reassured residents that his administration is more determined than ever to make sure that no innocent blood is shed on the in the State. Mutfwang stated this Tuesday when he visited the two communities in Kwall District of Bassa LGA (Kimakpa and Zike), where over 50 people were killed on Sunday night in an attack by suspected herdsmen.

Plateau United FC forward, Vincent Temitope, was attacked by irate fans on Sunday after their Nigeria Premier Football League match-day 33 defeat against Nasarawa United in Lafia. Nasarawa United had won the keenly contested encounter, 3-2 against their North Central neighbours before a video of the player being treated for a cut around his neck surfaced. During the match, Temitope missed a penalty and scored a goal.

As the people of Plateau State are trying to come to terms with the recent attacks in some communities of Bokkos LGA, two villages in Bassa LGA were attacked on Sunday night, resulting in 47 fatalities and scores of injuries. It was gathered that the communities attacked were Zike and Kimakpa in Kwall District of Irigwe Chiefdom in the aforementioned LGA.

A former military administrator of Plateau State, Real Admiral Bitrus Atukum (rtd) has called on the Federal Government to declare the Fulani herdsmen attacking communities in the state as terrorists. He said the target of the assailants is to keep the citizenry under perpetual poverty. Atukum equally accused the killer herdsmen of “economic sabotage”, noting that they attack mostly when the planting and harvest seasons are approaching.
