Kuwait, a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, last summer resorted to programmed load-shedding for the first time in years amid rising demand, urban expansion and plant maintenance delays.

KUWAIT - Kuwait signed 400 million dinars ($1.31 billion) of three-year road maintenance contracts with 18 local and foreign companies at a ceremony in the Sabhan industrial area on Wednesay. Aug 20 (Reuters) - Qatar Energy is in talks with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) for a new long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to help meet rising demand for power generation in the Gulf Arab state, five trading and industry sources told Reuters. The deal would see Qatar providing Kuwait with 3 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) of the seaborne fuel over 15 years from its North Field project, which is expected to commence operation in 2026, four of the sources said.

Iran, which claims a stake in Durra, has criticised a Kuwaiti-Saudi development agreement for the field signed in 2022. Durra holds an estimated 20 trillion cubic feet in proven reserves. Iran’s oil ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
