A local Councillor has called on Waterford City and County Council to provide a museum dedicated to famous travel writer, Dervla Murphy. Labour's John Pratt brought forward the idea at this month's plenary meeting of Waterford City and County Council. Dervla Murphy was an Irish touring cyclist and author of travel books for more than 50 years. She is best known for 'Full Tilt: Ireland to India with a bicycle' released in 1965.

Waterford FC have announced the signing of 20-year-old Goalkeeper Stephen McMullan on loan from Fleetwood Town. McMullan who only turned 20 on New Year's Eve, joins the Blues for the 2025 season. The young shot stopper started his career with Warrenpoint Town where he attracted the interest of the Fishermen. The Armagh man joined the English Football League side at the side of 17.

A campaign group in West Waterford has provided an update on the long standing issue of a public school bus service. The group has campaigned for the areas of Ardmore, Clashmore Grange and Pilltown to be provided with a bus for children to attend secondary school in Dungarvan. The group's statement which was posted on Saturday evening stated:"Thankfully, we now have safe pickup points. While this is a step in the right direction, we still face challenges.

Three Waterford sides were in action in the last 32 of the Munster Junior Cup on Sunday afternoon. Tramore got the better of Limerick side Breska Rovers 3-0 thanks to a Mikey Brennan brace and a Conor Butler effort. Portlaw defeated Castleview 1-0 thanks to a Jordan Myler effort. Dungarvan scored late to advance against Riverstown. Sam Uniacke with the goal. Waterford Premier League champions Villa were in action Saturday night at Connors Park. They advanced past Limerick side Kilmallock United.

A West Waterford school will battle it out for the All Ireland Senior A Volleyball title. Dungarvan College will contest the grand finale against Munster rivals Douglas Community School on Monday, December 9th at the National Arena in Dublin. The school qualified for the All-Ireland Volleyball Final at the Senior A level after defeating Sutton Park from Dublin. The team have been led by joint-coaches John Prud'homme and Mark FitzSimons.

Former Waterford FC captain and midfielder Barry Baggley has joined Stephen Kenny's St Patrick's Athletic for an undisclosed fee from Fleetwood Town. The 22 year old was a key player during Waterford's 2023 promotion from the League of Ireland First Division. The Belfast native made 54 appearances during his time at the Blues, notching 17 assists. The midfielder also found the net twice for the Blues during his time at the RSC.

Waterford FC may see a big change going forward. The club posted to social media last night regarding a fan feedback survey surrounding the topic of club branding. The post went to further detail stating:"Whilst the current Waterford FC badge has served us well over the past few years, we believe there is room for improvement."The current crest was met with both support and skepticism from both inside and outside the county when first revealed in 2017.

Waterford Senior Hurling Champions Ballygunner have found out which club stands in their way of provincial success. Sarsfields from Cork defeated Feakle of Clare at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on a scoreline of 1-25 to 1-17. The decider is pencilled in for Sunday, December 1st at 3.15pm. The venue is yet to be confirmed.
