    UPDATED June 6, 2025: The administrative committee (AC) of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) announced on Friday, June 6, that it has accepted Dr. Bryan Chapell’s request to retire as stated clerk “effectively immediately.” The committee also announced a transition plan for Chapell’s role. “The AC met with Chapell and has gratefully received his repentance and apology for his comments on The Gospel Coalition podcast,” said the committee.

    Bryan Chappell has announced that he plans to retire as stated clerk of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) following pushback from his recent appearance on the Gospelbound podcast with Collin Hansen. According to a statement published in byFaith, the denominational publication of the PCA,  Chappell said he plans to ask the Administrative Committee to approve his retirement at its meeting next week.

    Dr. Bryan Chapell, who leads the administrative committee of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), has published a new apology after he came under fire for revealing during a recent podcast a list of names of people he called “scandalizers.”In his apology, Chapell said he will submit a request for retirement to “the upcoming called meeting of the Administrative Committee.” Below Chapell’s apology, committee Chairman Danny McDaniel said the committee has received Chapell’s request.
