A couple who have fostered more than 100 children say they will keep doing so until they "physically can't anymore". When husband and wife Jane and Chris Williams, from Swansea, decided to start fostering 24 years ago, they never expected to look after so many. More than 7,000 children are in the care system in Wales, with just 3,800 foster families, according to Foster Wales. "You just need one bed, and space in your heart, and you can become a great foster carer," said Mr Williams.

A man accused of murdering his son's girlfriend believed he was being "scammed" by the two of them, a court has heard. Sophie Evans' body was found at a property in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, on 5 July 2024. Richard Jones, 50, from Burry Port, Carmarthenshire, has admitted manslaughter with diminished responsibility but denies her murder. Swansea Crown Court heard that he told a psychiatrist that he believed he had been "tricked" out of the deeds for his mother's house by his son and Ms Evans.

Families of the four miners who died in a south Wales colliery disaster 13 years ago will have to wait until 2026 for answers into what happened. Charles Breslin, 62, David Powell, 50, Phillip Hill, 44, and Garry Jenkins, 39, died when water flooded the Gleision drift mine near Cilybebyll, Neath Port Talbot, on 15 September 2011. The disaster happened after routine blasting when thousands of gallons of water flooded a tunnel where seven miners were working - three managed to escape.
