    Facebook announced on Tuesday that all videos on its platform will soon be shared as reels, regardless of their length or orientation. Up until now, users have been able to share both video posts and reels. The company is also renaming the “Video” tab on its platform to the “Reels” tab. The update won’t change what videos are recommended to you, Facebook says. In the coming months, users won’t have to choose between uploading a video or reel, as it will automatically be shared as a reel.

    Streaming services surpassed both cable and network television in total viewership among people in the U.S. for the first time in May, according to a new report from Nielsen. Last month, streaming services accounted for 44.8% of all television viewership, their largest share to date. Nielsen found that total viewership for cable and network television accounted for 44.2% of all television viewership.

    Instagram is testing the ability for users to repost posts, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Monday. The move doesn’t come as a surprise, as the social network was spotted developing the feature as far back as 2022. Some users have reported seeing the feature on their accounts, with one noting that users will be able to repost their own content in addition to other users’ posts.

    DNA testing service 23andMe filed for bankruptcy protection in March, sparking concerns about what could happen to the genetic data of the company’s 15 million customers. Pharmaceutical giant Regeneron announced in May that it was buying the genetic testing company for $256 million following a bankruptcy auction. While the company has said it will maintain 23andMe’s privacy practices, it also stated that it would use the 23andMe data to aid the discovery of new drugs.
