In Milan, the runways focused on the present, but the future was nowhere to be found. On Milan AW24 Womenswear Fashion WeekMilan was a blur—as most of the collections presented echoed similar ideas of sparsity and commercialism, with many questioning if we saw any fashion from the summation of the week’s shows. At first, quiet luxury seemed like fashion’s breath of fresh air to unwearable and overthought design, and what was once a light breeze has settled into a stifling, stagnant heat.
