Gurgaon: Intermittent rain in the early hours of Thursday pierced through dense fog, which had brought visibility down to 50 metres the day before, but meteorologists believe this respite will be short lived. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert to warn people about another round of dense fog on Friday. People were advised to prepare for another foggy day and avoid driving on highways in the early hours of the day.

Gurgaon: GMDA started a five-day drive on Monday to clear encroachments along Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), reclaiming 12 acres of land. The 12-km stretch of SPR, running from NH-8 to Ghata, has a 160-acre green belt, of which 60 acres have been encroached upon. GMDA earlier assured that the entire SPR will be encroachment-free by Jan 31. Led by DTP GMDA RS Batth, the team demolished illegal nurseries, removed building materials, and demolished both permanent and temporary structures.
